ABOUT ME

I started creative writing after I retired following a career in public relations, and after I had spent three years attaining a Masters in History of Art at the University of Warwick and in Venice. Since the 1990s I wanted to write a novel based on a curious brooch which I inherited from my godmother, but decided a course in creative writing at the University of Warwick would be beneficial first.

Instead of starting The Mourning Brooch, I opted to write something quite different and so The Mahler Five emerged as my ‘apprentice piece’ and was published in 2016. It is a modern-day psychological drama and very different from the family saga linked to the brooch. I live in the West Midlands, within easy reach of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Stratford-upon-Avon with its RSC. As a founding member of Art Friends Warwickshire, I am active in fund-raising for the arts.
