Jean Renwick

Jean Renwick is author of The Mourning Brooch trilogy, historical novels based on a real Yorkshire family between 1839 and 1945. The three books were researched in depth and written over twelve years, after she inherited a mourning brooch from her godmother in 1989. Beginning in Doncaster, this family saga travels beyond, to America and other parts of the world.

Jean’s first novel, The Mahler Five, is a relationship drama, set in the present day, where five people, seated in a concert hall, enjoy Mahler’s glorious Fifth Symphony (remember the music in the final scene in Death in Venice?). All characters are linked, although they don’t realise it until the last, shattering chapter.
